Work in Progress Wednesday

WIP Wednesday.

I am excited to have a blog post for today. Woot.

I started this baby blanket 33 weeks ago. I checked. On Instagram. I stopped working on it probably just after that photo. That seems like something I would do.

Well now there is a reason to finish this baby blanket. Theres going to be a baby that needs it at some point!

I started doing a color a night. Thats just about 10-15 rows and maybe an hour or so of work. Depending on if I am distracted or not. Usually I am easily distracted.

I got the husband a Nintendo 3Ds. I call it a Game Boy. But there has been lots of Mario Cart going on. Easily distracted.

The blanket is soft and bright. Made up of mystery yarn. Ive had this yarn in my stash for a long time. Years. I know it is the cheap stuff from Michaels. The stuff that you get when you are first starting to knit/ crochet. But I like it. And I like the blanket.

Lets just hope I stick with it and don’t stop after this post.

A year in review

I made a lot of goodies this year.

And then I got pregnant and every thing stopped. Im feeling more motivated these days and hope to start sewing and creating again.

But lets look back at all the goodies that were made this year. 2014 was a great making year. I hope 2015 is a great learning year.

Lots of food was made. Baking runs in the family and food is the way to my heart. Noms.

Lots of pies. Looking at all these pies makes me miss summer time and fresh fruits. Need to get back on that pie bandwagon.

For my birthday I got food colorings. I had a lot of fun making donuts and sprinkles. So many donuts.

I continued to work on my embroidery. I expanded a bit by trying larger and more complex pieces. My favorites of this year were the book set. I would love to do this again with different book covers, or maps.

Quilts this year were worked at a slower pace. And I am ok with that. My fabric stash has grown but my quilting has slowed. A few baby quilts were made and a few couch quilts were made.

My works in progress quilts have grown. Ive never had so many quilts waiting to be finished.

A few need to be quilted. A  few need to have backs and be quilted and one just need to have the binding attached!

Lots of baby things were made! I am totally in love with my new niece and soon Ill have a baby to make cute things for!

General sewing was huge! I made lots of goodies on this one. Lots of clothing! Even a shirt for the husband. He was super happy about that.

Screen printing continued on at a slow and steady pace.

And of course the dogs helped with everything. Mostly standing on quilts. They want to be part of everything and how can I say no to something so sweet and cute.

I know I have left out a lot. Missed a few of my favorites, but there is just so much already!

You can find mostly everything in the archives page.

I hope 2015 is just as great as 2014 was. 🙂

Do you watch the show?

I don’t. My brother in law loves the show. He’s always like “my show- Community…” “I know you don’t watch, but my show Community…”

I still listen. But jeeze the boy loves his show. His program.

His birthday is just days after Christmas. Poor boy.

This year I decided to make him some shirts for his show Community.

Decided on some designs. Pulled on my screen printing stuff and got to work!

Screen printing is so nice.

Ive never seen the show, so I am hoping I picked out some good designs.

All carved out and ready to go.

It turned out so nicely! This one is my favorite.

The next one I had more trouble with. Ugh.

I started with my yellow. The yellow I use is thin, I learned a bit ago to mix it with white to thicken it. But I wanted a bright yellow not a canary yellow. I did a few layers of yellow to solve this problem. I started off with the canary yellow and ended with the bright thin yellow.

I like how this layer turned out.

The next layer when right on top of the yellow. I waited for the yellow to dry to do this layer. This is the layer I had problems with.

So much that I feel bad giving him the shirt, but I know he’s going to love the shirt.

I cut out the letters and taped the design to the shirt. I needed more stability with the letters being so small. I apparently put more tape on the Troy side instead of the Abed side.

Poor Abed.

The last cut out. You can see the whole design here.

A simple white stripe. This part took less than 10 minutes.

The end result.

It’s pretty ok.

At least I know brother in law will like them.
